The Last Two Weeks Have Been Absolutely Insane… In the Best Way Possible!

Wow. The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind—in the best, most fulfilling way. I’m still catching my breath, but I couldn’t wait to share some updates with all of you.

First off: I wrote my first-ever op-ed, and not just for one publication, but for two! Both the Boston Herald and the Dorchester Reporter published pieces I wrote, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m still wrapping my head around it, but it’s been so affirming. I’ve been inspired to write a follow-up article to keep the conversation going—because the issues I’m passionate about deserve continued attention and dialogue. (Links to both articles are below—feel free to check them out!)

On July 16th, I celebrated eight amazing months with my boyfriend, who has been nothing short of incredible. It’s honestly hard to put into words just how much he means to me. His support, love, and encouragement have been a steady light in my life. I’m beyond grateful, and for the first time in a long time, I feel genuinely happy. I can’t wait to see what’s next for us.

Coming up soon is my recognition ceremony, and while we’re still waiting on a finalized date, I’ve started working on my speech. I’m co-writing it with my co-lead from this year, and the process has been emotional (in the best way). It’s hard to believe this chapter is coming to an end. This journey has been anything but easy—advocating in education is not for the faint of heart—but somehow, I made it look effortless. Truth is, it was a ride full of both triumphs and setbacks, but it’s one I wouldn’t trade for anything. It’s been beautiful.

And here's something else: my boyfriend has been pushing me (gently but persistently) to publish my poetry. He believes in my words, and honestly, I’m starting to believe in them too. I might finally take that leap. Stay tuned… there may be a book in the works sooner than you think.

Until next time,
